The Newcastle Jets have boosted their squad ahead of the Asian Champions League with the signing of former Lazio striker Fabio Vignaroli on a six month contract.

The 32-year-old made nine appearances for Lazio last season and has also played for the likes of Bologna and Parma in Italy and most recently had trials at Kilmarnock and Dundee in Scotland.

Vignaroli bolsters Newcastle’s strike force ahead of the Asian Champions League later this year as he joins fellow newcomers Donny de Groot and Sasho Petrovski at the A-League club.

“The greatest attribute that Fabio brings to our club is a tremendous amount of experience in one of the biggest and most competitive league’s in the world,” Newcastle chief executive John Tsatsimas said

“There is no doubt that his time in the Serie A will give our squad a wonderful boost in terms of know-how and familiarity on the big stage as we embark on our first Asian Champions League.”

“If you look at some of the clubs that he has played at, and therefore the calibre of players he was alongside, it speak volumes about what he can contribute to Newcastle.”
