Perth Glory v Melbourne City: match preview

It’s second v third to close out Round 22 of the Hyundai A-League as Perth Glory entertain Melbourne City at HBF Park.

Glory surrendered second spot to City last weekend after a shock 2-1 loss to Newcastle Jets in the Hunter.

The defeat snapped Glory’s 10-match unbeaten run and while that would have hurt Tony Popovic’s side, they do enjoy an excellent recent record against City.

Glory have lost just one of their last 12 games against City, with the boys from the west yet to concede in two clashes between the clubs this season.

City bounced back to form last weekend with a gritty 1-0 win over Brisbane Roar on Sunday.

While it wasn’t their most fluent display of the campaign it showed they are able to win ‘ugly’ a trait that hasn’t been associated with City teams in the past.

If they can get a result in Perth on Sunday evening, it will only enhance their title credentials.
